What is a Social Media SEO Test?

Social Media Test for Internet Marketers
The creation of an online Internet marketing test where anyone can contribute is an interesting experiment.
We will see how good the results are and how much the moderator has to interfere. Will it be good enough for universities to use? Will it be entertaining? Time will tell. Check out the Social Media Internet Marketing Test and feel free to join this social media experiment by adding a question.
Is it True that a Camel is a Horse Designed by Committee?
We all know the jokes about how groups are incompetent and this is reinforced by our experience in meetings where a lot of time is wasted. The other side of the coin is eloquently supported by James Surowiecki who wrote a book called The "Wisdom of Crowds".
Mr. Surowiecki brings many examples where groups prove to be smarter than most or all the experts. His examples include: when guessing winners in sports events and point spreads, the weight of an ox, location of lost submarine, and beans in a jar.
Google Harnesses the Wisdom of the Crowd
An online example is Google which counts the links or votes of the crowd and uses that to decide who ranks first. Mr. Surowiecki explains that this theory works best when the participants don't communicate with each other. This is why Google and intenet marketers are now playing a cat and mouse game.
Internet Marketers communicate in order to pass around more links. This games the system by weakening the wisdom of the crowd. Google is now working hard to find ways to negate these effects including: nofollow tags, no link juice for blog comments, downgrading low quality links, etc.
Social Media Sites also use Crowd Wisdom
Other social sites also use the wisdom of crowds. Digg has people vote on news items--those that get more votes, move up and are more prominent. Here too, the results have been affected by people gaming the system. I am sure that some people ask others to vote for their items.
This communication is the cause of poorer results according to the theory. Other social media sites have the same problem: Youtube, Flickr and Sphinn, are just a few examples.
Social Media Internet Marketing Test
Ths Internet Marketing Test is a different kind of wisdom that I don't think was mentioned in James Surowiecki's book as we are not just looking for answers. In this case we are asking people to contribute the questions as well as the answer.
It will be interesting to see if the Social Media Internet Marketing Test brings good results.
